Tintri Global Center
Making the right choice of a scalable storage solution upfront is key to ensuring the success of all virtualization initiatives. All of the methods of scaling traditional storage including using additional disk shelves up to the limits of the controller, adding separately managed storage nodes or leveraging scale-out storage for virtualized environments share the common challenge of ever-growing management burden and infrastructure complexity.
Tintri VMstore™ and Tintri Global Center™ together enable IT to scale virtualization without the challenges of traditional storage. Building on the datastore concept of VMstore, Tintri Global Center delivers centralized monitoring and control that enables multiple VMstore systems to function as one. The result is simple scaling at significantly lower cost, and predictability for all virtual deployments.
Technology
Tintri Global Center and Tintri VMstore together offer a simple way to scale storage for virtualized environments. VMstore with FlashFirst™ Design and application-aware operations is the ideal building block for scaling storage. Each VMstore appears as a datastore in the virtualization layer and works with VMware’s Storage DRS.
Tintri Global Center is built on an architecture capable of supporting over one million VMs – a number well beyond what is deployed in even the most demanding virtual environments. Deployed as a standalone virtual appliance, Tintri Global Center enables IT administrators to control and monitor as many as 32 VMstore systems in different datacenters. IT admins can view and create summary reports across all or a group of VMstore systems and their resident VMs – with in-depth information on storage performance (IOPS, latency, throughput), capacity, vCenter clusters, host status, protection status, and more.
Tintri Global Center’s architectural foundation will enable administrators to apply consistent policies for data protection and enable automatic load balancing across different VMstore systems. Because Tintri Global Center is designed around REST APIs, it will also enable Tintri partners and customers to create custom solutions for tasks such as integrated snapshot control and automated deployment of test environments.
Tintri Advantage
Simplicity
- Get a single control point for as many as 32 Tintri VMstore systems and their resident VMs across multiple data centers
- Aggregate and present in an intuitive format key metrics on performance and capacity usage
- Easily deploy as a self-contained virtual appliance in any environment
Insight
- Gain deep end-to-end performance insight into individual VMs
- Identify rapidly changing VMs across a group of VMstore systems
- View and export summary reports of individual and groups of VMstore systems and their resident VMs with up to one month’s statistics
Extensibility
- Scale storage the same way VMware vCenter enables compute to scale without the complex clustering
- Eliminate the performance uncertainty when adding new VMs to your VMstore
- Enable third-parties in the future to build on Tintri functionality with APIs and PowerShell scripts
